Title: Creating Our Shield

Date: November 28, 2022

Grade: 1st Grade

Component: Personal Development

Objective: Demonstrates initiative for self-expression. 

Standard/competency: The student can demonstrate an attitude of respect for materials, tools, facilities, and peers by following classroom rules and procedures. 

Plan: 

  1. Ice breaker activity: What was your favorite thanksgiving food this year. (3 min)

  2. I will explain the activity to the class and pass out the handout with a blank shield. (3 min)

  3. Students will complete their shield. (10 min)

  4. Students will present their shield to their classmates.  (4 min)

Assessment: students actively participated and presented their shields significance to their fellow classmates.

Title: Coloring a Christmas Tree

 Date: November 28, 2022

Grade: 2nd Grade

Component:  Art Class.

Objective:   to teach students how to open up and feel comfortable talking to fellow peers about holiday traditions.
 
Activity:   
 
Give students drawn Christmas trees as handouts. (This class is part of a series of lessons in which other holidays will be also included i.e. Hanukkah, Ramadan, 5 de Mayo and Kwanzaa)
 
As the class colors I ask each student individually to tell the class about a family holiday experience or tradition their family observes.
 
Assessment:
 
When students finish coloring, I will ask them to give feedback on some of the stories that they heard from other classmates.
